The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting on Monday, July 10 for their newest member Fiesta Filipino.
Fiesta Filipino is a grocery store and mini cafe. Customers can purchase ethnic snack foods and base ingredients for traditional Filipino dishes. They currently offer a small menu featuring Pancit and plan to expand their offerings soon. They also offer bubble tea and smoothies in several flavors with "pearls" made from tapioca.
Fiesta Filipino is located at 211 E. Baker Street in Brownwood and are open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Sunday 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce and the America's Small Business Development Center are offering a business workshop titled "Marketing to the 4 Generations" on Tuesday, July 11th from 11:30 am-1:00 pm at the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce.
This workshop will help attendees understand the four generations in today's workforce and consumer market and how best to reach and connect with them. Understanding the differences in the generations can help businesses decide the best marketing avenue to take to reach their customers and clients.
There is no cost for this workshop for Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce members. Non-member fee is $10. Attendees may bring a lunch.
The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce is now accepting applications for its 2017-2018 Leadership Brownwood class.
Spanning eight months from September through April, Leadership Brownwood is designed to increase individual and community leadership skills. The beginning retreat, the first Wednesday in September, focuses on individual leadership styles and techniques. Starting in October and ending in April, the class then spends one day per month examining specific aspects of the community such as education, government, local business and economic development, health and human services, the criminal justice system, and tourism.
Leadership Brownwood began in the mid-80’s by the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce as a community leadership development program. The program is dedicated to educating, developing, and empowering current and future leaders for the community and motivating them to serve civic, charitable, and business organizations.
The insights participants gain as they explore the inner workings of the community serves as a foundation for their long-term involvement in Brown County in a variety of leadership roles.
Tuition is $495 per person and includes transportation to tour sites, meals for each session, course materials, and class shirts.
The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting on Thursday, June 22nd for Lenzi Insurance Agency, LLC in Brownwood.
Upon the retirement of C.T. Ham's 40 years in this community, Kelli Lenzi took over the Farmers business and location on February 1, 2017. Lenzi Insurance Agency will continue the one-on-one service to their longtime customers and new households. Kelli's office offers Farmers products - auto, home, business, life, renters, motorcycle, umbrella and recreational vehicle insurance. She said that she wants her hometown communities to have the service, value, smart coverage option to protect their hard earned assets.

The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce and the America's Small Business Development Center are offering a business workshop for Microsoft Excel on Tuesday June 27, 2017 from 11:30 am-1:00 pm at the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce.
This workshop is geared for those new to Microsoft Excel or those who want to freshen up their skills. The workshop will begin with the ABC’s of the spreadsheet program and progress to learn some of the advanced features to make financial tasks less time-consuming. At this hands-on interactive workshop (BYOL - Bring Your Own Laptop), attendees will learn how to create, edit, format and print spreadsheets that focus on the business owner’s needs. Some of the features being taught will include, information entry (data, text), cut, copy, paste, paste special, formatting (cells, columns, rows), cell references (general, absolute), basic formulas (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division), naming sheet tabs, printing challenges (title, headers, footers, margins), spreadsheet templates (balance sheets, profit & loss, cash flow report, loan amortization) and more.

The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce will host their June Business After Hours event on Thursday, June 15th for the Heart Center at Brownwood Regional Medical Center, located at 1501 Burnet Drive in Brownwood. The event will be held from 3:30 PM - 5:30 PM.
Tours of the newly equipped Heart Center will be available. Attendees will have the opportunity to visit with Dr. Sanjeev Ravipudi, Cardiologist-Central Texas Heart & Vascular, while unwinding with refreshments and light hors d’oeuvres.
The open house style event is open to the public.
The Brownwood and Early Chambers of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting on Friday, June 9th for Spirit of Texas Winery.
The new winery opened in April of this year and offers a selection of wines that can be enjoyed in their tasting room or outside on the patio. They also offer cheese and meat trays, but customers are welcome to bring their own food as well. They frequently offer special events and live music to add to the atmosphere.
Spirit of Texas Winery is located at 6037 County Road 291 between Early & Zephyr (just off of US Highway 183/ 84.

The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting on Tuesday, May 30th for That Crane Store.
That Crane Store a main street boutique, originally opened in the west Texas town of Crane on August 5, 2016. At the beginning of the new year, after a surge of online orders from Brown County residents, Amanda Scott and her family decided to move the boutique to Brownwood to better serve their growing customer base. Since opening the doors on March 1, 2017, Amanda said that the young boutique has grown new wings and taken off with record setting sales.
In addition to popular lines of boutique clothing, shoes, accessories, custom t-shirts, they also carry J. Forks Designs-unique natural turquoise jewelry, LuBella Candle Company, Shabby Chick Natural Cleaning Supplies, and now offers in-house embroidery with the addition of Wilson & Co. Embroidery.
