Entries Now Being Accepted for the 54th Annual Brown County Rodeo Parade

rodeoparadestockThe 54th annual Brown County Rodeo is fast approaching and organizers are getting set for a great lineup of events and activities including the rodeo parade.

As a major component to the rodeo each year, the Brown County Rodeo Parade will travel through Downtown Brownwood and feature a wide assortment of entries. Entry forms are now being accepted for the parade which will take place Saturday, June 3rd at 10 AM.

Participants in the parade should begin lining up at 8:30 AM at the Brownwood Coliseum.

There is no fee to enter the parade. Entry forms are available at www.brownwoodchamber.org. Entry forms may be returned to the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce office at 600 E. Depot Street.

The 54th annual Brown County Rodeo will take place June 1, 2 and 3 at the Earl Q. Wilson Arena.

Brownwood Chamber to Host Law Enforcement Appreciation Luncheon on May 19th

luncheonPRimageThe Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce will hold their annual law enforcement appreciation luncheon on Friday, May 19th at the Coggin Avenue Baptist Church Connection Center (1715 Coggin Ave) from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM. This event is intended to honor the men and women in all aspects of law enforcement, who work together to keep the community safe.

Representatives from area law enforcement agencies will be in attendance and will be recognized. Each of those agencies or departments has been offered the opportunity to announce their Officer of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Investigator of the Year, or whatever awards may be appropriate for their agency.

Mitch Slaymaker of the Texas Municipal Police Association will be the guest speaker.

This month's luncheon is sponsored by TexasBank.

Chamber members and the public may sponsor the lunches of law enforcement officers or officials. Call the Brownwood Chamber for more information. Meal sponsors will be acknowledged at the luncheon.

Lunch will be served at 11:30 AM and the program begins at noon. The luncheon ends about 1 PM. Cost is $15 per person. RSVP is required and the deadline is Wednesday, May 17 at 5 PM. The Chamber's Monthly Luncheon is open to the public.

Brownwood Chamber Holds Ribbon Cutting for One Source Express Care Clinic

OneSource600The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting on Tuesday, April 4th for One Source Express Care Clinic.

One Source Express Care Clinic, located in United Supermarket, provides non-emergent care to those feeling "under the weather." The care team consists of a physician serving as medical director and advanced practitioner Shannon Young DelaCruz, FNP-C serving as primary provider assisted by advanced practitioners.

2017 Corks & Caps

Corks  Caps Logo 1000Tickets are now available for the 2017 Corks and Caps event set for Saturday, October 7th from 6 PM - 11 PM in the Depot Plaza in Brownwood.

Corks and Caps will feature tastings of beer and wine from breweries and wineries from across the country.  Several food trucks will also be featured at the event offering a variety of food and desserts. A cigar area will be a featured component during this event hosted by The Leaf from Abilene, and live music will be offered by the Matt Wilson Band from Austin.

The Matt Wilson Band, has a deep catalog of classic soul, R&B, rock n’ roll, blues, funk, and gospel it performs with warmth, wit, and white-gloved showmanship. Wilson believes there is an art to presenting these treasured tunes in a way that’s reverent but relevant. Wilsons’ band’s soul-revue personality imbues its interpretations of standards by Beatles, Jerry Lee Lewis, Ray Charles, Billy Joel, Stevie Wonder and Bill Withers with spirited sincerity.  Matt Wilson Band also has a distinguished well of original material that’s ten years and four albums deep.

Advanced tickets for the event cost $25 each which will include 10 samples of the beer and wine. Non-sample tickets for the concert only will be $10 each.  Attendees must be 21 or older to purchase tasting tickets.   The first 600 tasters will get their choice of a Corks and Caps commemorativeglass.

April Chamber Luncheon to Feature Brent Leisure, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department

Brent Leisure 500The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce will feature Brent Leisure, State Parks Director for the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department at their April luncheon.   He will discuss the state park system and specifically info about the Lake Brownwood State Park. 

The luncheon will be held Friday, April 21st at the Brownwood Country Club from 11:30 AM to 1 PM. Cost is $14 for the buffet lunch payable to the Brownwood Country Club.   The luncheon is sponsored by Demand Staff.

Brent manages the operation of over 95 State Parks, State Natural Areas and Historic Sites on over 650,000 acres. His responsibilities include oversight of State Parks natural and cultural resources management; human resources; interpretation and education programming; financial and business management; facility and asset management, strategic planning and development; and public safety and visitor services for over 8.1 million State Park visits each year.

Brownwood Chamber Holds Ribbon Cutting for Hall N Ice N Things

HallNIceNthings600The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce held a Ribbon Cutting for Hall N Ice N Things on Tuesday, March 28th.

Hall N Ice N Things is a shaved ice stand created with the customer in mind. It is a family owned business that offers over 70 shaved ice flavors, specialty items which include ice cream and choice of assorted toppings from M&Ms to gummy worms, and side items such as cold drinks and flavored pickles. They also offer a “Flavor of the Week,” as well as smoked turkey legs and more available on the first Saturday of every month.

The stand is equipped with covered seating and waiting area. There is convenient, visible parking, and they provide curbside service to disabled customers at their car window. Upon request, they provide catering options for all of Brown County and selected neighboring areas.
