The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce recently held a ribbon cutting for the new Hendrick Surgery Center in Brownwood.
On Friday, May 12, Hendrick Health System celebrated the completion of a new Hendrick Surgery Center in Brownwood with a ribbon cutting and Open House. Brownwood Mayor Stephen Haynes, Dr. James Fowler, Hendrick Trustee Paul Waldrop and Hendrick CEO Tim Lancaster spoke to a crowd of more than 200 people. Tours of the facility were offered.
The surgery center is a joint venture with Abilene and Brownwood physicians and is located at is located at 2401 Crockett Dr., and will offer same-day surgery for specialties including otolaryngology (ENT), gastroenterology, orthopedics, podiatry, urology, gynecology, ophthalmology, pain management and plastic surgery.
Outpatient surgery centers, also known as ambulatory surgery centers, provide a low cost alternative to hospital-based, low risk outpatient procedures.
The 13,400 square-foot facility includes three operating rooms and 13 pre-op/recovery rooms.
The 54th annual Brown County Rodeo is fast approaching and organizers are getting set for a great lineup of events and activities including the rodeo parade.
As a major component to the rodeo each year, the Brown County Rodeo Parade will travel through Downtown Brownwood and feature a wide assortment of entries. Entry forms are now being accepted for the parade which will take place Saturday, June 3rd at 10 AM.
Participants in the parade should begin lining up at 8:30 AM at the Brownwood Coliseum.
There is no fee to enter the parade. Entry forms are available at www.brownwoodchamber.org. Entry forms may be returned to the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce office at 600 E. Depot Street.
The 54th annual Brown County Rodeo will take place June 1, 2 and 3 at the Earl Q. Wilson Arena.
The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce will hold their annual law enforcement appreciation luncheon on Friday, May 19th at the Coggin Avenue Baptist Church Connection Center (1715 Coggin Ave) from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM. This event is intended to honor the men and women in all aspects of law enforcement, who work together to keep the community safe.
Representatives from area law enforcement agencies will be in attendance and will be recognized. Each of those agencies or departments has been offered the opportunity to announce their Officer of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Investigator of the Year, or whatever awards may be appropriate for their agency.
Mitch Slaymaker of the Texas Municipal Police Association will be the guest speaker.
This month's luncheon is sponsored by TexasBank.
Chamber members and the public may sponsor the lunches of law enforcement officers or officials. Call the Brownwood Chamber for more information. Meal sponsors will be acknowledged at the luncheon.
Lunch will be served at 11:30 AM and the program begins at noon. The luncheon ends about 1 PM. Cost is $15 per person. RSVP is required and the deadline is Wednesday, May 17 at 5 PM. The Chamber's Monthly Luncheon is open to the public.

The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting on Tuesday, April 4th for One Source Express Care Clinic.
One Source Express Care Clinic, located in United Supermarket, provides non-emergent care to those feeling "under the weather." The care team consists of a physician serving as medical director and advanced practitioner Shannon Young DelaCruz, FNP-C serving as primary provider assisted by advanced practitioners.

The 3rd Annual Corks and Caps event is set for Saturday, October 7th from 6 PM - 11 PM in the Depot Plaza in Brownwood.
Corks and Caps will feature tastings of beer and wine from breweries and wineries from across the country. A variety of food trucks will also be on hand offering food and desserts for purchase. A cigar area will be a featured component during this event hosted by The Leaf from Abilene. Attendees can relax and enjoy these great tastes with live music.
Tickets for the event will cost $25 each which will include 10 samples of the beer and wine. Non-sample tickets for the concert only will be $10 each. Attendees must be 21 or older to purchase tasting tickets. The first 600 tasters who arrive will get their choice of a Corks and Caps commemorative wine glass or a beer pilsner glass.
The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce will feature Brent Leisure, State Parks Director for the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department at their April luncheon. He will discuss the state park system and specifically info about the Lake Brownwood State Park.
The luncheon will be held Friday, April 21st at the Brownwood Country Club from 11:30 AM to 1 PM. Cost is $14 for the buffet lunch payable to the Brownwood Country Club. The luncheon is sponsored by Demand Staff.
