Annual Community Awards

 

It’s time to recognize the shining stars of our community – the remarkable individuals, organizations, and businesses that consistently motivate, uplift, involve, and embody the essence of commitment, support, mentorship, and the “Feels Like Home” spirit of Brownwood. 

If you know an outstanding co-worker, friend, family member, or business that exemplifies these attributes, nominate them now!

The community award winners will be announced during the upcoming Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce 118th Annual Membership Banquet in June 2024.

Stuart Coleman “Good Neighbor” Award

Recipient will receive commendation for his or her community service as a volunteer: an unsung hero who volunteers his or her time and talents to make Brownwood an outstanding place to live through service, community, charitable, church, or other organizations.

The Groner Pitts and Good Neighbor Awards are generally a “surprise” to the recipient.

Volunteer of the Year

A Member who has unselfishly given of their time and talents to assist in the Chamber’s events, programs, and activities; recipient may be a Chamber Ambassador or Board Member.

Small Business of the Year Award (1 to 10 employees)

Chamber Business Award Recipients should meet the following criteria:

  1. Supports Chamber programs, events, and activities.
  2. Demonstrates “excellence” in their business practices.
  3. Provides or supports community involvement at the corporate and/or employee level.
Medium Business of the Year Award (11 to 50 employees)

Chamber Business Award Recipients should meet the following criteria:

  1. Supports Chamber programs, events, and activities.
  2. Demonstrates “excellence” in their business practices.
  3. Provides or supports community involvement at the corporate and/or employee level.
Large Business of the Year Award (51+ employees)

Chamber Business Award Recipients should meet the following criteria:

  1. Supports Chamber programs, events, and activities.
  2. Demonstrates “excellence” in their business practices.
  3. Provides or supports community involvement at the corporate and/or employee level.
Community Partner of the Year Award

A non-profit organization, or governmental entity that has worked diligently to make the Brownwood Area a better place for us to live, play and work, can be for a specific achievement or for years of partnership.

Professional of the Year Award

A person who has performed their job at the highest level, going above and beyond in raising the practices, performance, productivity and/or impact of their organization on the community; may be employed by a non-profit organization or publicly funded entity.

Man of the Year Award

A man who has excelled in his community service; a recipient who has made a significant contribution to the quality of life in our community. He may be from any area of life: arts, business, civic, education, home and family, health, media, history and from a public, private, or governmental group. He may work behind the scenes or may be a person who is in the public eye. This individual may be cited for an individual accomplishment, or for a series of accomplishments over a longer period of time—particularly within the past year.

Woman of the Year Award

A Woman who has excelled in her community service; a recipient who has made a significant contribution to the quality of life in our community. She may be from any area of life: arts, business, civic, education, home and family, health, media, history and from a public, private, or governmental group. She may work behind the scenes or may be a person who is in the public eye. This individual may be cited for an individual accomplishment, or for a series of accomplishments over a longer period of time—particularly within the past year.

Groner Pitts “Lifetime of Service” Award

Our “Citizen of the Year”; a person who has made an extraordinary contribution, touching the lives of the people of the Brownwood area with a selfless spirit of service and giving more to our community (over the years) than he or she could ever expect to get back. Brownwood’s highest honor in recognition of long-term community service.
