What IS the Brownwood Store?
It is a much larger than expected gift/souvenir shop located inside the Chamber of Commerce that specializes in Texas and Brownwood items. Along with free maps, brochures, and phonebooks, you will also find exclusive Brownwood Blend Coffees, postcards, Texas and Brownwood mugs and wine glasses, magnets, car decals, caps and T-shirts (some even dyed with REAL Texas dirt!)
We have pocket reference guides for anything from birds, to cattle, to snakes and fish. There are regional books, children’s toys and books, books on Texas history, travel, courthouses, Texas humor and lingo, and bestselling and local cookbooks. There are also books about Fred Harvey and the Harvey Girls, Robert E. Howard, and Candy Barr. Horned Toad items are our best seller…from small figurines to earrings and pins. Then there are our VERY special Cloisonné ornaments by Kitty Keller, 2 of which are Brownwood designs. In our cupboard, we have Roy Spence’s Royito’s Hot Sauce, Perini Ranch steak rub, sweet hot jalapenos, and Texas dips and spices. You’ll find Fredericksburg jelly made from prickly pears, mesquite beans, wild plums, agarita berries, mayhaw, and of course peaches. We carry drinks from Dublin Bottling works, Roadkill candles from Sterling City, and everything from caps to wineglasses painted by Ted and Martha Shelton. Plus more, more and MORE…ALL made in Texas.
