The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce will feature Brent Leisure, State Parks Director for the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department at their April luncheon. He will discuss the state park system and specifically info about the Lake Brownwood State Park.
The luncheon will be held Friday, April 21st at the Brownwood Country Club from 11:30 AM to 1 PM. Cost is $14 for the buffet lunch payable to the Brownwood Country Club. The luncheon is sponsored by Demand Staff.
Brent manages the operation of over 95 State Parks, State Natural Areas and Historic Sites on over 650,000 acres. His responsibilities include oversight of State Parks natural and cultural resources management; human resources; interpretation and education programming; financial and business management; facility and asset management, strategic planning and development; and public safety and visitor services for over 8.1 million State Park visits each year.
Brent began his 32+ year career at TPWD in 1983 as a summer seasonal while completing his studies in Wildlife Management at Texas Tech University. That seasonal position led to a number of different roles to include Park Ranger, Law Enforcement Officer, Wildland Firefighter, Interpreter, and a host of management positions within the agency. Brent became a Fellow at the National Conservation Leadership Institute in 2013 and serves on the Board of Regents at the National Association of State Park Directors Leadership School. He is board member and director of the central region of NASPD. Brent has held the position of Director of Texas State Parks since September, 2010.
