Leadership Brownwood began in the mid-80’s by the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce as a community leadership development program. Ribbon Cutting – Melda’s Elite Cuts
The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting on Tuesday, December 12th, for Melda’s Elite Cuts commemorating their 15th year of being in Brown County. Owner, Isamelda Sosa began her journey by visualizing her future salon in an empty building on Early Blvd. That dream became a reality when she opened Melda’s Elite Cuts 15 years ago. As a hair stylist in Brownwood, Melda has had the pleasure of serving generations of clients in this community. Speaking to her on the importance of this milestone, Melda reflects on the joy and fulfillment of seeing an entire family pass through her salon, “Melda’s Elite Cuts is a family salon. From Grandparents to grandkids, we see the whole family. It’s so special.” She saw an opportunity to relocate to Brownwood and Melda mentioned that there is support for small businesses because she received assistance with a matching grant from BMDD in 2017 to help her finalize her dream. Ribbon Cutting – Verizon Wireless
The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting for Verizon Wireless on Friday, December 8th, 2023, at their location at 300 W. Commerce Street in Brownwood.
Members of the chamber and Ambassadors were welcomed by the team at Verizon during their Grand Opening with refreshments. Consumers may purchase phone cases, chargers, and other accessories. One can also upgrade their current phone, add additional lines of service, and add home internet services. The Brownwood location’s Store Manager is Toni Shelton. Toni and Sales Representatives, Tandy and Kennedy are excited to have a full-service Verizon Wireless store in our community.
