The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce held the Large Industry Breakfast at the Dr. Don Bostic Board Room on Tuesday, May 30, 2023. The advocacy breakfast was presented by Brownwood Municipal Development District (BMDD). Moderator Dustin Delano of TMAC-West Texas led discussion regarding large industry growth and retention in the Brownwood area, as well as benefits and problems employers are facing.
Discussion surrounded two major obstacles in retaining workforce for large industry employers: childcare and housing. To address these obstacles, the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce will spearhead a taskforce on child care business shortages and a taskforce to create incentives for qualified employees to own a home in the area. The taskforces will be a collaborative effort with city officials and local business to address this community wide need.
