The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting for The Oaks Brownwood – A Rite of Passage Program on Wednesday, October 25th. The Oaks is located at 800 FM 3254 in Brownwood.
The Oaks Brownwood is a certified secure post-adjudication facility that provides comprehensive services to young men using a strengths-based, gender-responsive model. Through rigorous education, positive skill development, and individualized therapeutic interventions, we empower youth to reach their full potential.
Tarino Russell, Facility Administrator, spoke with us about the impact this program makes. The Oaks accepts youth from dozens of counties around Texas, for an average stay of around 6-9 months. Their facility offers in person instruction with teachers though a partnership with Mullin ISD, sports and activities such as a homesteading club, and a comprehensive team of case managers, therapists, and youth care specialists. With a team dedicated to their mission, they look forward to bringing “Respect, Attitude, Motivation and Spirit” to the youth they serve and out into our community.
